From ARPANET to the Stars: Vint Cerf on the Past and Future of the Internet

Vint Cerf, often called one of the fathers of the Internet. Now serving as Google’s Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist, Vint’s journey began in the 1960s with the ARPANET project. Alongside Bob Kahn, he co-invented the TCP/IP protocols—the foundation that still powers the global internet today.

In this conversation, Vint shared insights on the evolution of networking, the challenges of adopting new technologies like IPv6 and AI, and what the future of connectivity may hold. Perhaps most fascinating? His work on building an interplanetary internet, designed to connect worlds beyond our own.

This Deep Dive reminds us that the technologies we take for granted were once ambitious ideas, and today’s bold visions could shape tomorrow’s reality.
